Bibles For Africa!

Do you want to make an eternal investment in the life of a Middle School boy or girl in Africa?

Last summer I had the opportunity to distribute Bibles among several churches in Ethiopia. Like hundreds of thousands of other Christians in Ethiopia and Uganda, these believers had never owned a copy of the Bible. It was an unforgettable experience for me. I felt like I was handing out $1,000 bills. The boy pictured above took his new Bible to a secluded place behind a shed and began to read the words of God in his own language. It was a holy moment — for him and for me.

This summer, Covenant Life Church is sending missions teams to Ethiopia and Uganda. One of our goals is to put more copies of God’s Word in the hands of local believers. And I want to recruit the 12:13 Class to join in this special mission!

At the beginning of the school year the class provided an amazing amount of support for “Operation Christmas Child.” In our last 4 weeks before the summer break, I want to place one final challenge before the students of 12:13:

— God has blessed you with the Bible in your own language. (Your family probably has lots of Bibles in the house!)

— God has blessed you with money

Would you prayerfully consider giving $6 of your own money — or even $12 — to purchase Bibles for kids your age in Ethiopia and Uganda?

We will be taking a special offering each week in June. I don’t want anyone to feel pressured to do this. This is not mandatory. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

But I think that Jesus and the Shrewd Manager in Luke 16 would agree with me — this may be one of the best investments you will ever make!
